Who is Mark Kroehler?

Mark E. Kroehler is a retired United Methodist pastor and an active participant at First United Methodist.  For 42 years he served parishes in eastern Pennsylvania.  After his “first retirement” he served as Pastor of Visitation at First Church.  He is the father of our Senior Pastor, Kent Kroehler.

 

In 1979 the Committee on Records and History needed a Chairperson.  Mark accepted the position.  As a conscientious student of religious history, Mark Accepted this position with a personal obsession that became a trademark for his committee’s endeavor.  He became the custodian of First Church’s historical archives collection.

 

Over the years he  devoted much of his time to the needs of the Records and History Committee.  Mark exhibited and maintained great professionalism in dealing will all matters related to church history and record-keeping.  He kept the committee focused on the ultimate goal of achieving a superior church archives, for the benefit of all past, present and future church members and their relatives and descendants.

 

With Mark at the helm, the Committee gained respectful recognition throughout the Eastern PA Conference.

 

In 1995 the Committee on Records and History drafted a resolution honoring Mark.  The resolution named him as Chairperson Emeritus of the Committee.  The Board of Trustees unanimously adapted the resolution and named the archival collection depository room to be known as “The Mark E. Kroehler Archives.”
